On the 12th of May 2018, Footsteps got the amazing opportunity to go and see Strictly Ballroom the musical.
We were lucky enough to know one of the main cast members, Garry Watson, who has been a guest teacher for the Elite Troupe on Saturday mornings.
We were invited to take a backstage tour. It was like stepping into an emporium of sequins! We saw lots of towering scenery, stunning dresses and lots and lots of wigs! I think my favourite costume was the one that Tina Sparkles wore that depicted many pineapples.
Then, we got to see the show. Strictly Ballroom is now one of my most favourite musicals ever, and if you haven’t seen it I would highly recommend it! One of my favourite parts was when Fran and the famous Scott Hastings learnt the Paso Doble. The Piccadilly Theatre is a beautiful place and the live band that played all of the song right in front of us was astounding!
I think my favourite song in the whole show was the classic, Time After Time.
It was a magical experience and I can’t wait to see another breathtaking musical!
Note from Footsteps: Gary will be hosting a musical theatre workshop with us in the Autumn Term. If you would like to be sent the details just drop us an email!
